Pilates, Mental Health & the Power of Connection
At Movement & Co, we’ve always believed that Pilates is about far more than building a stronger body. It’s about creating a space to slow down, breathe, move with intention and reconnect — with your body, your mind and the people around you.
Life is busy. We spend so much of our time rushing from one thing to the next, often without giving ourselves the opportunity to properly switch off. For many of our clients, stepping into the studio is an hour where the outside noise can stop.
Pilates naturally encourages that mind-body connection. You have to concentrate on how you move, how you breathe and how your body feels. For that hour, your attention comes back to the present moment.
And while movement itself can be incredibly positive for our mental wellbeing, we think the environment in which you move matters too.
A slightly different class today…
Today, we had some rather special visitors at Movement & Co — kittens! 🐾

They joined us in the studio for a class and, unsurprisingly, brought plenty of smiles, laughter and a little bit of chaos with them.
But it was also a lovely reminder of something important.
Wellbeing doesn’t always have to be serious. Sometimes it’s movement. Sometimes it’s taking an hour for yourself. Sometimes it’s talking to the person on the reformer next to you.
And sometimes, apparently, it’s doing Pilates with a kitten wandering underneath your carriage.
More than a workout
We want Movement & Co to be somewhere people genuinely enjoy coming.
A smaller, personal studio where you’re known, where you can move without judgement and where looking after your mental wellbeing is every bit as important as improving your strength, mobility and fitness.
Because feeling good isn’t just about what your body can do.
It’s about how you feel when you leave the studio.
Today there were definitely a few more smiles walking out of the door. 🤍
Move your body. Clear your mind. Find your people.
